Seoul, Korea-born and Brooklyn, NY-based artist Jonggeon Lee explores architectural spaces and domestic items, and our relation to their scale and material. By distorting and 'cropping' what amount to little snapshots or representations of familiar architectural features like staircases or pedestals, the viewer takes stock of the space and context surrounding the work itself. In his statement, the artist explains:

In the work, I transform the architectural structures to dislodge them from their initial function of structure. As a result, in each of the pieces, time becomes fixed and isolated from its conventional cycle, creating memories of space.

More information can be found at Triangle Workshop, where Lee completed a residency, at triangleworkshop.org, and at doosangallery.com.
