Building Blocks is a series of small works by Glasgow-based artist TERRIBLEm86 from reclaimed wood scaffolding boards that are cut  down to 15.5 x 2.2cm. Each block is painted and covered in resin, but each one dictates where it will go, and what occurs is a variety or collection of patterns, colors and sometimes words. I particularly enjoy how the artist has displayed them in the studio along with unfinished blocks, creating a seemingly random assortment of 'enlightened' blocks. He writes:

This idea is to breathe new artistic life into an otherwise discarded piece of wood. It gives importance to an inanimate object at the end of its lifecycle; which essentially throughout its life is always underfoot, supporting work, but never being an object of its own creation.

TERRIBLEm86's studio is located at MANY, Glasgow. More information on the artist can be found at terriblem86.com.
