Brian Prugh

Every time I look at the images of Brian Prugh's toulle-covered windows at Indianpolis' Harrison Center for the Arts, I keep wondering if they're really there, or if I need my eyesight checked, or if this uncertainty is exactly what he's going for. I'd guess the latter. Prugh has been working for the last couple of years in primarily black tulle, which he cuts and assembles into dark and graceful specters. More recently they have taken on an installation quality by responding to the site they are put into, responding with a soft strength which, layer upon layer, gives this gentle fabric an unnervingly powerful presence.

I'm thrilled to be able to include work by Brian Prugh in Together With, a two-city exhibition featuring 22 artists from around the country, in mid-2017.
